Dr. Barbara Distler is a licensed clinical psychologist with over 20 years of counseling experience. She has worked with individuals,
couples, and groups at the City College of New York, Northwestern, the University of Illinois at Chicago, the Art Institute of Chicago, and
Children’s Memorial Hospital. In addition, she has had a private practice for 18 years. Dr. Distler has always worked with diverse populations and has helped people with a wide range of issues. She sees people regularly for individual psychotherapy, couples counseling, and career counseling, and is licensed in the states of New York and Illinois.
In addition to clinical work, Dr. Distler has extensive experience teaching, supervising, and training. She has designed numerous psychoeducational programs for universities, and as an independent consultant, she has worked with companies and organizations such
as McDonald’s, PFLAG, Foote, Cone, and Belding, and the Illinois Department of Human Services on wellness and employee issues.
Dr. Distler has been interviewed for television, books, and publications such as the Wall Street Journal, Investor’s Business Daily, the Chicago Tribune, and the Dallas Morning News as an expert on issues related to stress and burnout, career issues, and interpersonal relationships. In addition, she previously wrote for a health and wellness newspaper. She is a member in good standing of the American Psychological Association.
